A
visit to a bed and breakfast is a special event in itself. It is reminiscent
of days gone by and a past rich in history. The experience allows you to
share past southern traditions in a rather extraordinary fashion. |
| The
distinctive dual turrets of The CW Worth House represent one of Wilmington’s
most charming bed & breakfasts. Decorated with fanciful shingles,
the CW Worth House is a Queen Anne confection offering seven guestrooms.
As you step through the gate, the spacious southern porch invites
you to slow down, relax and enjoy. |
| The
foyer resounds with memories of lyrical melodies playing on the antique
gramophone while your hosts, Margi and Doug Erickson, greet you warmly
and prepare you for your stay. The atmosphere here is easy going and relaxed.
The formal Victorian parlor invites conversation with a beau or a friend
amid period furnishings and decorations, including an antique Weaver pump
organ. |
| Before
sitting to relax or read a book or watch television in the comfortable
study, be sure to notice the collection of old cameras in the secretary
or Smokey the cat curled up on the floor. |
|
|
At
the heart of every bed & breakfast is the dining room, where guests
sit around a large table in an atmosphere that lends itself to sharing
the day’s events, the numerous area attractions or a chat with a newfound
friend. |
| And,
of course, the breakfast! The CW Worth House breakfast offers hearty fare
to start off your busy day. Standards include tea or a private blend coffee,
fresh fruit, juice, homemade muffins, as well as a chef’s choice entrée
such as savory rosemary and goat cheese bread pudding or artichoke/mushroom
quiche or banana oat pancakes. |
| Whether
you stroll in the garden, sit on the patio or lounge in the hammock, the
landscaped gardens will fill your senses with southern fragrances. The
soothing sound of a waterfall gurgling gently into the fishpond is sure
to relax you. The second floor veranda provides an intimate setting to
overlook the gardens. |
| Should
the sound of surf or an early tee time beckon you, some of the Carolinas’
finest beaches and golf courses are minutes from The CW Worth House. Golfing,
tennis, sunning, swimming and deep-sea fishing are all within easy reach.
If yachting is your dream, the Intracoastal Waterway passes through Wilmington;
many marinas are in close proximity. |
| Guests
with allergies should take note of the resident cat. Rates range from $115
to $150 |
