About Town
Situated in the heart of the Historic District in Wilmington,
NC, the CW Worth House is just a short walk to the Cape Fear riverfront
where lunch overlooking the river, fine dining, antiques stores
and interesting shops await the wayfarer. Attractions including
the Battleship U.S.S. North Carolina, the Cape Fear History Museum
and the Cameron Art Museum are nearby. You may tour the historic
district on foot, by horse-drawn carriage or by trolley. Tours of
historic houses give another glimpse into bygone days. The arts
community is alive and well in Wilmington; the historic performing
arts center, Thalian Hall, dates to 1858 and offers performances
throughout the year. We are happy to arrange dinner, theater and
tour reservations.
You may catch a glimpse of well-known actors being filmed on
location along the city’s streets. Wilmington is home to "Screen
Gems" studio, a major movie production company, and the television
show “Dawson’s Creek”, which was filmed in town. Currently, "One
Tree Hill" is being filmed in and around town.
Should the sound of surf or an early tee time beckon you, some
of the Carolinas’ finest beaches and golf courses are minutes from
the CW Worth House. Golfing, tennis, sunning, swimming and deep-sea
fishing are all within easy reach. If yachting is your dream, the
Intracoastal Waterway passes through Wilmington; many marinas are
in close proximity.
Wilmington is a true College town, being home of the University
of North Carolina at Wilmington and Cape Fear Community College.
The presence of a respected four-year state university is quite
an asset. UNCW is a senior four-year institution with a master's-level
program. There are approximately 10,000 students currently involved
in four areas of study-Arts and Sciences, Business Administration,
School of Education and School of Nursing.
